EXHIBITION
Jarvis Dooney is proud to present the work of Siri Hayes (AU), Katrin Koenning (DE), Brendan Lee (AU) and Vivian Cooper Smith (NZ) in a group exhibition of photographic work that touches on aspects
of cultural identity, the Australian landscape and European heritage.
Since ancient times it was theorised that a significant landmass equivalent to Europe existed in the southern hemisphere. Terra Australis (latin for South Land) was the name of this hypothetical continent
which eventually lent its name to Australia in the 1800’s. Throughout its short history history, Australia has been forming its identity and place in relation to the rest of the world, the significance of the landscape and scale of the continent have played a large role in developing this image.
